In traditional rhinoplasty surgeries, when the nose bone and sidewalls are shaped with the support of hammer and chisel, they become traumatized. This results in increased edema and bruises after procedure. In piezo rhinoplasty surgeries, on the other hand, ultrasonic devices create vibrations in tissue by using high speed sound waves. These vibrations cause gentle breaking apart of tissue surfaces to remove surface irregularities and cut tissues. With this method, it is possible to avoid damage to the underlying structures. Thus, by using ultrasonic vibrations in a very targeted and precise way to reshape the bone, damage is kept to a minimum. Piezo rhinoplasty provides a less painful recovery and surgery, in contrast to traditional rhinoplasty.
