How is eyebrow hair transplant performed?

In order to achieve a successful eyebrow transplant the procedure need to meet the following criterias:

• Match the natural angle of the hair of the eyebrow
• Follow the natural curve of the brow
• Ensure that hair grows as flat as possible to the surface of the skin
• Implantation of single hair follicles

Eyebrow hair transplant requires special skills and extremely high precision from the medical team. The actual procedure is similar to a traditional FUE surgery where the donor hair for the eyebrow transplant is obtained from the scalp. When extracting the hair follicles, only single hairs will be harvested. For this procedure, only single hairs can provide a natural aesthetic appearance. Prior to the harvesting process, local anesthesia will be administered within the donor area.  The important consideration for making incisions is to have the hairs grow as flat as possible along the surface of the skin so that they don’t stick out. Thus, this is different with the scalp hair where the angle between the scalp and the hair can be 40-45 degrees. The whole process takes approximately 3-4 hours to perform and is done completely under local anesthetic. 

Recovery and results

The recovery period for an eyebrow transplant is relatively quick. You’ll notice some scabbing around the brows within the following days and it’s extremely important to not pickat these. Patients are expected to resume their daily activities within 48 hours of the surgery, however strenuous activities needs to be avoided for up to 4 weeks following your surgery. Just as in FUE hair transplantation, most of the transplanted eyebrow hairs will fall out for a period of “telogen” and will then begin to re-grow 3-4 months after the procedure.
